Carnival Entry Form

If you would like to enter Budleigh Salterton Carnival 2026 please complete the form below.

Please make sure you read the terms and conditions which can be found below before entering the carnival. Our entry form can be found here.

Entry Categories

Class A - Open Float (Over 30ft)

Class B - Open Float (Under 30ft)

Class C - Comic

Class D - Youth Float (Under 16's)

Class E - Royalty Float

Class F - Walking Individual Adult 

Class G - Walking Individual Youth (11-17 Year's)

Class H - Walking Individual Youth (0-10 Year’s)

Class I - Walking Groups

Class J - Walking with Motorised Prop

Class K - Walking with Non-Motorised Prop

Class L - Trade

Local Classes (EX9 Postcode Only):

Class M - Best Local Motorised (EX9 Postcode Only)

Class N - Best Local Walking Individual Adult (18+) (EX9 Postcode Only)

Class O - Best Local Walking Individual YOUTH (Under 18 (EX9 Postcode Only)

Class P - Best Local Walking group (EX9 Postcode Only)

There will be a Best Overall will be announced at the East Devon Carnival Association Presentation Evening.

 

Rules:  

  1. Vehicle entries are to assemble in Upper Stoneborough Lane and must enter from the Exmouth Road end of town.

  2. Walking entries to assemble at Seachange, East Budleigh Road, EX9 6HF. Entries to arrive from 4.00pm onwards.

  3. Judging will start at 6.30pm prompt. The Carnival Procession will set off at 7:30pm from the Hub.

  4. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU COLLECT YOUR ENTRY NUMBERS FROM THE REGISTRATION AT SEACHANGE BEFORE JUDGING!

  5. ALL ENTRIES MUST COMPLETE THE FULL ROUTE AND NOT DISMOUNT BEFORE REACHING THE FINISH SIGN LOCATED ON UPPER STONEBOROUGH LANE. No monies will be paid if the route hasn’t been completed.

The organising committee does not accept any responsibility or liability of whatever nature arising from any accidents, injuries or damage to property arising or resulting from the Carnival Procession or any entry or person taking part therein.

 

Terms and Conditions

Prize Money

  1. There must be three entries in a class to constitute a class if there are less than three a prize will be awarded at the discretion of the judges.

  2. Certificates will be handed out before the procession moves off and any prize money will be paid to you within two weeks via BACS payment, if not cheques will be sent by post. Best Overall will be presented at the East Devon Carnival Association Presentation Evening.

 

Collection Buckets - Please take as many as you can!

  1. If you are willing to take collecting buckets, they will be available at the registration located at Seachange on East Budleigh Road.

  2. Please make sure collectors with your float or entry walk in front or behind, not at the sides.

  3. Buckets are to be given to the royalty float at the end of the Carnival.

  4. We will be keeping all collections to enable us to hold the Carnival in future years.

So that we are compliant with General Data Protection Regulation, we would like to assure you that your information will be kept securely and will not be passed on to third parties.
 

Entries

Float Entries

  1. All float entries taking part do so at their own risk and are responsible for their own vehicle insurance and public liability insurance. Please bring your VSO and insurance documents with you so the organisers can check this. This applies to all entries in classes A, B, C, D, E

  2. All vehicular entries must comply with the Road Traffic Act and associated laws.

  3. The height of all floats is restricted to fifteen feet (from ground level).

  4. All vehicular entries with generators must have a suitable and certified fire extinguisher on board.

  5. All vehicular entries must ensure that persons on a float are aware of how to get off safely in the event of an emergency and be aware of who oversees your float.

  6. You must make sure you have the correct substantial safety chain for all towing vehicles.

  7. Please make sure you always carry all related paperwork for your entry and please pass all rules and regulations to the operators of your float.

Walking Entries

  1. All walking entries taking part do so at their own risk and are responsible for checking their home insurance policy to make sure they are covered for public liability while participating in the carnival.

  2. All walking entries should ensure that suitable footwear is worn.

  3. Budleigh Salterton Carnival Committee accepts no responsibility in the event of any injury due to unsuitable footwear.

 

Rules Applying to all entries

  1. All entries in classes A, B, C, D, E, K, M must be motorised.

  2. Entrants in classes F,G, H, I, J, L, N, O, must not have motorised support.

  3. We ask that you keep the start area clear of any rubbish and take it home with you or dispose of it in the nearest waste bin.

  4. Public Toilets are located at Seachange on East Budleigh Road, on the seafront and Station Road.

  5. The committee reserves the right to refuse entry; no entries will be accepted without a completed application form.

  6. All persons entering Budleigh Salterton Carnival are advised to dress appropriately for the forecasted weather.

  7. NO water must be directed at spectators from any entry.

  8. All entrants must complete the entire route.

  9. Last date for entries is 26th September 2026.
